I've entered the driving licence number but its showing an error!

The DBS require us to validate all UK Driving Licence Numbers against the names and DOB entered on the DBS. Here is a short guide to help you understand the format of a UK DL number:

DL Number: JONES859339TS8AD

JONES - Displaying the first 5 letters of the surname. If a surname is less than 5 characters in length, the remaining spaces will comprise of the digit 9.

859339 - First and last numbers are the year of birth. The second and third numbers are the month of birth (Note: in the case of females, 5 is added to the second digit, this means that the second digit will be 5 or 6). The fourth and fifth digits are the day of the month of birth.

TS - The first two initials of the forenames. If there is only one forename, the second character will be a 9.

8AD - Computer check digits

1. Check that the DL number has been entered correctly

2. Check the name order on the DBS - the first, middle and surnames have to be entered into the correct boxes as per the DL information

3. Double check the DOB entered on the check, ensure this matches the DL

If the DL expiry and valid from dates are not saving when pressing submit, you may need to navigate to the Employee Profile, go to the Other Details tab and fully complete the DL information there. Then, when you add a new DBS check, all information will pull through.

If the names on the DL do not match the other Identity or Proof of Address documents you have been given, then an alternative document might need to be sought. Please feel free to contact us via CHAT and we can review the submission and advise on the best way to proceed.
